The Wrights

The Wrights are an earthy-crunchy-granola family if there ever was one. Gerard and Lorraine built their house and established a crops business, had a son after years of trying for children, Thomas, who married Grace and had Xander.  Tom has joined his father in his farming business, and hopes that his son Xander will grow up to do the same.  Grace is a struggling artist and also dabbles in photography.  Lorraine is a homebody housewife and works as a chef, loves to cook and clean and babysit her only grandson.  The Wrights have traditional family values, know the value of a dollar, are very closely knit, and are more than just a little bit country.

Here is Tom, opening his arms up for his little son Xander, to scoop him up into his arms.

Late into the night, budding artist Grace practices her painting skills.

Lorraine, Gerard, and their son Tom all watch their favorite gardening show before hitting the sack.

Grampy Gerard puts the a sleepy little tyke to bed.

Next morning, bright and early, Lorraine rises to make breakfast for her household.  While mixing the ingredients for pancakes, she remembers back to the days when she would have given anything to have a family to make breakfast for.  Lorraine and Gerard married when they were only 18, lived on peanuts for years as Gerard established his crop business, and tried constantly for over 20 years to have a child. Even the doctors couldn't explain why they couldn't get pregnant. Just when they were about to give up, Lorraine got pregnant at age 41 with Thomas.  Raising him, seeing her grow up into a good man, marry Grace and have Xander was such a dream come true.  She loves that they are able to reside together so she doesn't miss a moment of Xander's upbringing.  She wells up with tears a little bit and wipes them away before they can fall into the mixing bowl.  She's just so thankful for her family.

The men waste no time, and rise with the sun to start harvesting their crops to bring them to market.  Thomas patiently waters his plants and hums a little tune.

Meanwhile, Grace dresses Xander and feed him breakfast in his high chair.

These two are inseperable, and have such a special relationship.

After visiting the grocer to sell their latest batch of crops, Gerard and son Tom head to Pinochle Pond to catch some fish. It's their second favorite pastime after gardening. Lorraine can cook up a mean fish- they also use the spare fish to fertilize their garden.

While the guys go fishing, Lorraine and Grace decide to take Xander on a visit to Butterfly Haven, an open park in town with a large dome that houses hundreds of butterflies. They figure he'll get a kick out of it.

Grace catches a beautiful blue butterfly for Xander to bring home.

Grace and her son share a quiet moment and read together....

While Lorraine is over in the pavilion, listening to the local musicians and showing of her grandson to Adele McCallister, among others!

On the way home, the ladies stop and buy a cake, and once everyone is home for the evening, light some candles to celebrate Xander's aging up!

And here is Xander all grown up!  Isn't he the spitting image of his mother? And he sure fits right into this family of country bumpkins...

The next morning is a big day! It's Xander's first day at school!  Mom and Dad eat breakfast with him and give him some encouragement....

Tom gives his little man a big huge, and Grace fights back tears.  It's hard to let them go.

Xander gets on the bus, and nervously takes his seat, ignoring the snickers at his overalls.  And there he goes, into the big world...
